The Legacy of the Malay Letter/Warisan Warkah Melayu - Offer

Offer!!!
The Legacy of the Malay Letter
-

Warisan Warkah Melayu

The Penang Bookshelf has just taken delivery of a few copies of The Legacy of the Malay Letter/Warisan Warkah Melayu (PB) by Anabel Gallop. So now let's see if we can get rid of a few of them.

I've mentioned what a beautiful book this is in a previous newsletter. I still think it's one of the more sumptuous books that's in The Penang Bookshelf's inventory. It's colourfully produced, it's about art, history and culture and it's in both Malay and English. What more could you want?

Anyway enough of the sales talk. The Penang Bookshelf is currently selling the book at RM120 (AU$42/CA$40/EUR29/GBP24/SG$48/US$29). However we're now running a limited offer for the first three copies that we can sell for RM100 (AU$35/CA$34/EUR24/GBP20/SG$40/US$23).

The books are in almost new condition with a bit of scuffing of the dust jacket, but that's about all. The ringgit price includes postage within Malaysia and must be paid for in cash or by bank transfer. The overseas price does not include postage, so do ask. Overseas customers can pay by  card or PayPal.

Oh there is a small catch - to qualify for this offer you have to buy another full priced book from The Penang Bookshelf at the same time. So if you want to take advantage of the offer when you're buying another book, just mention it and we'll give you an invoice with your discount for this book.

**Please note** The Penang Bookshelf operates two websites, one for shipping within Malaysia and the other for shipping elsewhere. If you live in Malaysia please click on the link attached to the book title. If you live elsewhere, please click on the (PB) link which follows each book's title.

New Arrivals in September - Offers!!!

New Arrivals in September

Offers!!!

As of 30th October 2013
(Updated Constantly)

Listed below are books which have arrived at The Penang Bookshelf recently.  (All prices are post free within Malaysia. If you live outside Malaysia, please ask for a quote for postage.)

Prices are shown in Malaysian Ringgit in blue. Sometimes The Penang Bookshelf can offer some of the titles at a reduced price if they are ordered and paid for while they remain on the list. (If the offer disappears, it's because the book is now advertised generally on The Penang Bookshelf's websites.)  The discounted price is indiciated in red.  Books sold will be so marked. So if you want to order any of them or want further details of any of the books before you make up your mind, do contact me at penangbookshelf@gmail.com.

If you see a book's title in  bold blue, it means the book is already on a Penang Bookshelf website. In such cases please click on the title to be taken to the relevant page of the website for more details. If the bold blue highlighted title is followed by the acronymn (TPW) it means the title is already on a third party website where The Penang Bookshelf advertises. The price will be higher than quoted here to take account of external fees and commissions. However by contacting The Penang Bookshelf direct, you can buy the book at the price quoted on this blog.

**Please note** The Penang Bookshelf operates two websites, one for shipping within Malaysia and the other for shipping elsewhere. If you live in Malaysia please click on the link attached to the book title. If you live elsewhere, please click on the (PB) link which follows each book's title.

The Penang Bookshelf's Third Internet Anniversary Offer - Runs until 3rd November 2013

The Penang Bookshelf's
Third Internet Anniversary Offer
Until 3rd November 2013
-
A Bit of A Gamble

On the third of November The Penang Bookshelf will have been on eBay for three years. This was its first venture onto the internet. Since then The Penang Bookshelf has established a website for customers in Malaysia and a separate one for customers outside Malaysia. The Penang Bookshelf also has a presence on the major international bookselling websites Abebooks, Biblio and The Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA)

In a mad attempt to celebrate this event, The Penang Bookshelf is making an equally mad offer to give a 100% refund (cash-back) of the total of one order received between today, 25th September, and 5pm on 3rd November 2013. Your receipt number will be entered in a draw to find the winner. As usual with such offers there are a few annoying conditions. As the ads say 'T&C apply.' However in this case they're fairly simple, i.e. -

  1. The customer must be a subscriber to The Penang Bookshelf Newsletter at the time of the order and on 3rd November.
  2. The order must be backed by a receipt issued by The Penang Bookshelf. (If you buy on the internet, you'll automatically be sent one. If you by in person, please ask for a receipt at the time of sale. Receipts will not be issued retrospectively.)
  3. The offer does not apply to orders where the customer has been given any discount.
  4. The offer does not apply to books specially ordered by The Penang Bookshelf on behalf of the customer, i.e. the book must be in stock at the time of the order.
  5. The winning receipt number will be chosen at random after 3rd November 2013.
There will also be two loyalty offers for customers who are already on The Penang Bookshelf's email  newsletter list as of today. There will be one two-thirds refund for one such customer and a one-third refund for another customer.

The successful customers will be announced sometime between 4th November and The George Town Literary Festival at the end of November. If you would like to be a person to volunteer to choose the winning receipt numbers, do contact me.

If you want to sign up for The Penang Bookshelf's newsletter, you can do so on the main website or  here on The Penang Bookshelf Blog.

A Selection of Academic Books - Offers!

Rojak Akademik
(An Academic Hodge Podge)
Offers!!!

This week's main news for The Penang Bookshelf is the snapping up of a pile of books published by Marshall Cavendish Academic Publishing about a decade ago. Many of them are scarce or just not around any longer. Let's hope you'll find something amongst them that's of interest.

They have yet to reach our shelves, but should do so in the course of this month. In the meantime The Penang Bookshelf is running an offer on them. As usual the eventual selling price is marked in blue while the offer price is marked in red. To take advantage of the offer price all you have to do is contact penangbookshelf@gmail.com to reserve the one or more titles in which you're interested and make payment before the book appears on The Penang Bookshelf website. (A book will not be secured until payment is received.) The books are on their way to The Penang Bookshelf now, so they will probably start appearing on the website in June.

All the books are in a fine, almost new condition. If any book is in a worse condition, you will be given an opportunity to cancel your order and be paid a full refund. All, or most of, the books are paperbacks

All prices include postage by surface mail to anywhere within or outside Malaysia. Prices are in Malaysian Ringgit, but we can accept other major currencies from customers outside Malaysia. Just ask for a quote.

This special purchase consists of more than 200 books. In other words The Penang Bookshelf has more than one copy of several of the titles below.
